Task No Longer Split Changing Actual or Remaining Duration |
Q113509
In Microsoft Project, when you split a task, and you then set the task to 100% complete by changing the Actual Duration or the Remaining Duration fields, the task is no longer split and the Actual Finish date is calculated as if the task was never split.
To avoid this behavior when you complete a split task, set the task to 100% Complete by using the Percent Complete field.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
The Resume No Earlier Than task field is a field that you can enter the date after which a task is scheduled to resume. In Microsoft Project version 4.0, if you have the Split In-Progress Tasks check box selected on the Schedule tab of the Options dialog box, the remaining work for the task is rescheduled for the date you enter in the Resume No Earlier Than task field. In Microsoft Project version 3.0, you can set this behavior by choosing Preferences from the Options menu, and setting the Auto Split Tasks option to YES.
