PRJ: Changing Recurring Task Frequency Moves Nonrecurring Task

SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project, if you change the frequency of a recurring task, and there is a nonrecurring task below and at the same outline level as the individual recurring tasks, the nonrecurring task is moved above any of the individual recurring tasks that have not been started.
CAUSE
When you change the frequency of a recurring task, all of the individual occurrences of the recurring task that have not started are deleted, and the new occurrences are created. Additionally, any nonrecurring tasks that are at the same outline level as the individual recurring tasks are added above any of the recurring tasks that have not started.
WORKAROUND
To avoid including nonrecurring tasks below a summary recurring task when you change the frequency of a recurring task, do either of the following:
- Promote the nonrecurring task following the recurring tasks so that
it is not included in the summary recurring task rollup. After you
change the frequency of the recurring task, you can demote the
nonrecurring task again.

- Insert a temporary task between the recurring task and the
nonrecurring task and promote this task so that it is not included
in the summary recurring task rollup. After you change the frequency
of the recurring task, you can delete this temporary task.
