SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, if you assign 100 resources to a task, and you then change the units of a resource assigned to the task using the Resource Assignment dialog box, you receive the following error message:

Too many resources assigned; only the first 100 will be used.
and the units assigned to the task are not changed.


WORKAROUND

If you assign 100 resources to a task, to change the units of any resource assigned to that task, do any of the following:

Steps to Reproduce Behavior in version 4.0

  1. In a new project, enter a task, T1.


  2. From the View menu, choose Resource Sheet. In the Resource Name column, enter 100 unique resource names.


  3. From the View menu, choose Gantt Chart. Select T1. From the Standard toolbar, choose the Resource Assignment button. In the Name column, select all of the resources, and then choose Assign.


  4. In the Resource Assignment dialog box, in the Units column for one of the resources, type 48h and press ENTER.


You receive the following error message:
Too many resources assigned; only the first 100 will be used.
