SYMPTOMS

Creative Labs Sound Blaster 16 does not play CD audio (music) when you run Music Box for the first time after installing Windows Sound System 2.0.

RESOLUTION

To correct this problem:

  1. Run Audio Control from the Windows Sound System group in Program Manager.
  2. Double-click the volume slider switch to display the expanded view.
  3. Select the CD option to turn it on. Adjust the slider for the CD option to activate volume for CD music.

MORE INFORMATION

The default setting for the CD audio option is off after the initial setup of Windows Sound System.

NOTE: Sound cards with a ribbon cable to the CD-ROM drive have an audio channel; therefore, a patch wire is not needed.
