PRA: Icon Properties Contain Incorrect Path

SYMPTOMS

The Command Line and Working Directory properties for the Microsoft Access icon contain an incorrect path.

CAUSE

An Administrative installation of Microsoft Access (SETUP /A) was followed by a network installation (SETUP /N) on the same system.

RESOLUTION

You can correct the Command Line and Working Directory properties for the Microsoft Access icon manually. To do this, follow these steps:

In Program Manager, select the Microsoft Access icon.
From the File menu, choose Properties.
Type the correct path in the Command Line and Working Directory boxes.
Choose OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access versions 1.0 and 1.1. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

Install Microsoft Access using the SETUP /A command. Install to a C:\NET directory.
On the same system, run Setup using the SETUP /N command. Do not choose to install Microsoft Access on your hard disk. Install to a C:\ACCESS directory.
After installation is complete, select the Microsoft Access icon in Program Manager. From the File menu, choose Properties. Note that the icon incorrectly points to the C:\NET\INSTALL directory.
