PRJ: Progress Bar Disappears for Task in Progress |
Q113935
The information in this article applies to:
-
Microsoft Project for Windows, version 4.0
-
Microsoft Project for the Macintosh, version 4.0
SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project, when you change the working time on the project
calendar, the progress bar for a task that is in progress disappears from the Gantt chart if the following conditions exist:
- You have the Split-In Progress Tasks check box selected on
the Schedule tab of the Options dialog box.
-and-
- You do not have the Updating Task Status Updates Resource
Status check box selected on the Schedule tab of the
Options dialog box.
-and-
- You change some of the days that the task was scheduled for from
working to nonworking.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the progress bar for a task is displayed based
on the remaining duration of the task. If there are not enough working days
to extend the progress bar to, before the task is finished, the progress
bar is not displayed. The combination of selecting the Split In-Progress
Tasks check box, and clearing the Updating Task Status Updates Resource Status check box, allows an earlier Finish date for the task because the task can be split, and because the task work completed doesn't update the resource work.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
