FIX: Error Occurs When Wrong File Added to Catalog ManagerID: Q114176

The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIf an inappropriate file type is added to the Catalog Manager and an attempt is made to modify that file, an error will occur. In FoxPro for Windows, the file will remain open after the Catalog Manager is closed.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in FoxPro 2.6 for Windows and FoxPro 2.6 for MS-DOS. This problem was corrected in FoxPro 2.6a for Windows and FoxPro 2.6a for MS-DOS.

Steps to Reproduce ProblemFoxPro for Windows: 1. Open the Catalog Manager. 2. Add an incorrect file, such as CONFIG.SYS, as a query. 3. Choose No in the "Was this file created in FoxPro?" dialog box. 4. Choose the Modify button. Nothing will happen. 5. Choose Modify again. The message "An error occurred while trying to open 6. Choose OK.
7. Close the Catalog Manager.
8. In the Command window, type "DISPLAY STATUS" (without the quotation
The file will be shown as being open as a "User Opened File." To close the
file, type "CLOSE ALL" (without the quotation marks) in the Command window.
FoxPro for MS-DOS: 1. Open the Catalog Manager. 2. Add an incorrect file, such as CONFIG.SYS, as a query. 3. Choose the Modify button. 4. Choose Yes in the "Was file created in FoxPro?" dialog box. 5. Choose Modify. The error message "Error 10 (Syntax Error)at line 1 6. Choose OK.
7. Close the Catalog Manager.
