SYMPTOMS
When you paste a Microsoft Word 6.0 Picture object to the Gantt chart
in Microsoft Project, the object appears to be condensed when you view the
project in print preview or print the project.
WORKAROUND
If you cannot obtain Word 6.0a right away, do any of the following to avoid
having the Word object appear distorted when you use the Print Preview command or the Print command in a project that contains a Microsoft Word 6.0 Picture object:
- Update the already inserted picture object with the following
steps:
- Double-click the picture object to open the picture in Microsoft
Word.
- From the Format menu, choose Drawing Object. Change
the formatting of any element of the picture, and choose
OK.
- From the Picture toolbar, choose the Close Picture
button.
- Repeat Steps 1-3 to return the original formatting of the
object.

- Insert the picture object instead of pasting the object by using the
following steps:
- In Microsoft Project, choose Object from the Insert
menu.
- Select the Create New tab. From the Object Type
list, select Microsoft Word 6.0 Picture, and choose
OK.
- Use the drawing toolbar to create the drawing object.
- From the Picture toolbar, choose the Close Picture
button.
Steps to Reproduce Behavior
- Start Microsoft Word for Windows version 6.0. From the View
menu, choose Toolbars. From the Toolbars list, select
the Drawing check box and choose OK.
- From the Drawing toolbar, select the Ellipse button.
Hold down the SHIFT key, and drag the document to create a
large circle.
- Select the circle, and choose Copy from the Edit
menu.
- Start Microsoft Project. In a new project, choose Paste
Special from the Edit menu. From the As list,
select Microsoft Word 6.0 Picture and choose OK.
- From the File menu, choose Print Preview.
The height of the circle is condensed on the Gantt Chart; that is, it appears as an oval instead of a circle.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed
at the beginning of this article.This problem was corrected in Word for Windows 6.0a.
