WD6X: Header and/or Footer Lost Saving in MacWord 5.1 Format |
Q114208
In Microsoft Word for Windows 6.x, when you save a document in Word for Macintosh 5.1 format and then reopen it, header and/or footer text is lost.
This problem occurs if your document contains text in the header and/or footer, but does not contain text in the main body.
Type in any text in the body of the document and then save the document in Word for Macintosh 5.1 format, and the header text will not be lost. For example, type abc or insert a non-breaking space (CTRL+SHIFT+SPACEBAR) in the body of the document.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word versions 6.0, 6.0a, and 6.0c for Windows. This problem has been corrected in Word for Windows 95, version 7.0.
