PCX Graphic is Very Small When Imported Using PCXIMP.FLT |
Q114391
If you import a PCX graphic in one of the Microsoft applications listed
above using the PCX import filter (PCXIMP.FLT) supplied with the
application, the graphic may appear very small. For example, a PCX graphic
that is 8 inches wide in Word 2.x for Windows might be only 1 inch wide in
Word 6.0. You can scale the image in Word 6.0 to the expected size, but the
picture may have low resolution and/or low quality or may be somewhat
distorted. If the graphic contains dithering, the effect of the dither is
ruined after you scale the image.
This problem does not occur in Word 2.x for Windows.
All these applications use the same PCXIMP.FLT converter, which determines the display size for the PCX graphic based on the information in the header of the graphic file. The graphic appears small because the file does not contain scaling or dimension instructions. By design, the filter does not scale the PCX image unless the file contains these instructions.
