The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 4.0

SUMMARY

Although Microsoft Excel is capable of receiving Apple Events, it is not capable of sending Apple Events.

MORE INFORMATION

Although you cannot send Apple Events in Microsoft Excel, you can create a code resource that will do this.

Creating a Code Resource

Because creating a code resource is an advanced procedure, if you want to do this, you should be familiar with a programming language such as C; you should also obtain a copy of the Microsoft Excel Software Development Kit (SDK).

To obtain the Microsoft Excel SDK:

The "Microsoft Excel Software Development Kit, Version 4.0," published by Microsoft Press, contains 3.5-inch disks. The SDK covers both Microsoft Excel version 4.0 for Windows and version 4.0 for the Macintosh. It can be ordered in the United States by calling Microsoft Press at (800)677-7377, and it may also be available in your local computer bookstore.

More information on this topic may be available from Microsoft Information Services. Microsoft Information Services are available on the World Wide Web by connecting to http://www.microsoft.com. The FTP site is located at ftp.microsoft.com.

Third-party vendors may also be consulted to either create the necessary code resources or existing third party products may also be obtained.
