BUG: BCP Utility Echoes Login Password |
Q114700
When prompting for a login password, the BCP utility echoes the characters entered by the user.
If a password is not specified on the command line, the BCP utility will prompt for the login password. The NT version of the utility will echo the characters entered for the password. The OS/2 and MS-DOS versions of the BCP utility do not echo the password.
Both the MS-DOS and OS/2 versions of the BCP utility will function under Windows NT. If it is unacceptable for the password to be echoed, either the MS-DOS or OS/2 versions of the utility can be used. The SQL Object Manager tool can also be used to bulk load data into SQL Server.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in BCP version 4.2 for Windows NT.
