SYMPTOMS

The Catalog Manager and Wizards commands are not available on the FoxPro system menu.

NOTE: The Catalog Manager command is usually located on the File menu. The Wizards command is usually located on the Run menu.

CAUSE

This situation occurs when the configuration file contains the following line

   _STARTUP = <program_name>

where <program_name> is a program or application designated to start whenever you open FoxPro.

WORKAROUND

To restore the Catalog Manager and Wizards commands to the menu, use one of the following methods:

Remove the _STARTUP = <program_name> line from the configuration file and then restart FoxPro.
-or-
Run FOXSTART.APP, which is located in the main FoxPro directory.

This behavior is by design.

When FoxPro starts, the FOXSTART.APP application runs by default unless another application or program is specified by the _STARTUP variable. FOXSTART.APP adds the Catalog Manager command to the File menu and adds the Run menu, which contains the Wizards command, to the main FoxPro system menu bar.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

1. Add the following line to your configuration file (usually CONFIG.FPW in

   FoxPro for Windows and CONFIG.FP in FoxPro for MS-DOS):

      _STARTUP = test

2. Start FoxPro.

   Note that the Run menu is not available.

3. Choose the File menu.

   Note that Catalog Manager is not available.
