SUMMARY

In Microsoft Excel, when you are in print preview and you choose the Setup button, the Notes check box on the Sheet tab in the Page Setup dialog box may be unavailable (dimmed).

STATUS

This is by design of Microsoft Excel.

WORKAROUND

To select the Notes Check Box so that cell notes will be printed, do either of the following:

In Microsoft Excel versions 5.0 and 7.0

  • Access page setup while a worksheet is active.

In Microsoft Excel verison 5.0 only

  • If you are in print preview, choose the Print button to bring up the print dialog box. You can select the Page Setup button from this dialog box and the Notes check box will be available for selection.
