SYMPTOMS

If you are using Microsoft Project with the Microsoft Mouse driver version 9.01, and you when you press CTRL or SHIFT and select the border of a node in the Pert Chart view, the cursor may change to a magnifying square.

CAUSE

This problem will occur when the Microsoft Mouse driver version 9.01 is installed and the Magnify option is configured to be used with the CTRL or SHIFT keys.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, reconfigure the mouse Magnify option to Alt Primary, Alt Secondary, or Shift Secondary.

In the Mouse manager, if any of the following is selected for the Extra Points option

Magnify
CTRL Primary
SHIFT Primary

you cannot select a Pert Chart node selection by pressing CTRL or SHIFT and then clicking the mouse.
