WordStar LineDraw Characters Not Converted to WinWord

SYMPTOMS

After you open a WordStar document in Word 6.0 for Windows, linedraw characters appear as ASCII character codes +, =, and |, not as ANSI extended character codes or original linedraw characters. Linedraw characters do not export from Word for Windows when using the WordStar converter.


CAUSE

Conversion of linedraw characters is not supported in the WordStar converter.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Word 6.0 for Windows WordStar converter. We are researching the problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.


MORE INFORMATION

In WordStar 7.0, linedraw characters are created by choosing Insert Extended Character then clicking on the code for the Extended Character desired.
