XL5: Stop Macro Button Not Displayed When Recording Macro

SYMPTOMS

When you record a macro, the Stop Recording toolbar containing the Stop Macro button may not be displayed.

To redisplay the Stop Recording toolbar, do the following to reset the toolbar:

  1. From the View menu, choose Toolbars.

  2. Select the Stop Recording check box.

  3. Choose the OK button.

    The Stop Record button appears on your screen.

  4. To remove the Stop Recording button from the screen, click the Control menu at the upper-left corner of the toolbar (this assumes the toolbar is not currently docked).

When you choose the Record Macro command (from the Tools menu, choose Macro and then choose Record Macro), the Stop Record will button appear on your screen.

MORE INFORMATION

The Stop Macro tool is displayed on the Stop Recording toolbar whenever you start the macro recorder.

In Microsoft Excel, when you use the Record Macro option in a Visual Basic module or in a MS Excel 4.0 Macro sheet, a Stop Macro button will appear on your screen.
