SUMMARYWhen you save a file in Microsoft Excel, you may not be prompted to enter summary information, even if the Prompt For Summary Info check box is selected.
MORE INFORMATIONMicrosoft Excel allows you to enter summary information that is saved with your file. You enter this information in the Summary Info dialog box. This information can be used to identify files after they have been created. It also makes it easier to search for a file in Find File. When you save a file, you will automatically be prompted to enter summary information for the file only if ALL of the following conditions are true: - The file has not previously been saved (it is a new file). - The "Prompt for Summary Info" check box is selected. - The file was not created from a template (BOOK.XLT, for example). To change the status of the Prompt For Summary Info check box, do the following:
Previously-saved files use the summary information with which they were originally saved. Likewise, files created from templates use the summary information originally saved with the template. To enter summary information for a file that does not meet the above requirements, choose Summary Info from the File menu (you will be prompted to enter the information).
