    SUMMARY

    Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.

    The Microsoft Access Knowledge Base (KB) Help files contain hundreds of technical articles written mostly by Microsoft AnswerPoint Engineers. To search for articles containing a specific word or text string, select the KB Help window and click the Find button on the toolbar.

    There are several types of KB articles in the Help files:

    • Titles starting with "INF" contain helpful tips and coding examples.
    • Titles starting with "PRB" document unexpected behaviors.
    • Titles starting with "PRA" document known problems.
    • Titles containing "Question & Answer" are from the FastTips service.

    There are three KB Help files available:

    ACCFAQ.EXE

    • Frequently Asked Questions KB Help file, called ACCFAQ.EXE. This version contains 50-60 of our most popular articles, targeted to a beginner and intermediate audience.

    You can find ACCFAQ.EXE, a self-extracting file, on the following services:
    • Microsoft's World Wide Web Site on the Internet
            On the www.microsoft.com home page, click Support.
            Click Search the Knowledge Base, and select Access.
            Enter kbfile ACCFAQ.EXE, and click GO!
            Open the article, and click the button to download the file.
      
    • Internet (anonymous FTP)
            ftp ftp.microsoft.com
            Change to the Softlib/Mslfiles directory.
            Get ACCFAQ.EXE
      
    • Microsoft Download Service (MSDL)
            Dial (206) 936-6735 to connect to MSDL
            Download ACCFAQ.EXE
      

    ACCKB2.EXE
    • Standard version 2.x KB Help file, called ACCKB2.EXE. To decrease the file sizes, and the corresponding number of download errors, we exclude articles that Support Engineers don't use often.

    You can find ACCKB2.EXE, a self-extracting file, on the following services:
    • Microsoft's World Wide Web Site on the Internet
            On the www.microsoft.com home page, click Support.
            Click Search the Knowledge Base, and select Access.
            Enter kbfile ACCKB2.EXE, and click GO!
            Open the article, and click the button to download the file.

    • Complete version KB Help 2.0 file, called ACCESS.EXE. Because of its size, this file is available only on the Microsoft Internet ftp server in the \KBHELP directory. On the Internet, look in DESKAPPS\ACCESS\KB\README.TXT
