The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you open Slide Show in Microsoft Excel version 4.0 for the Macintosh, if the file was created in Microsoft Excel version 4.0 for Windows, you may receive the following error message
Cannot find SLIDES.XLA!mcs03.TemplateAutoOpen which has been assigned to run each time <document> is opened. Continuing could lead to erroneous results. Cancel Open?where <document> is the name of the worksheet being opened. When you choose the No button, you will receive the following error message:
Cannot find SLIDES.XLA!mcs73.TemplateAutoActivate.NOTE: You will receive a similar error message when you open a Microsoft Excel 4.0 for Macintosh slide show file in Microsoft Excel for Windows.
CAUSEThe above error message appears because the template document on which the slide show was created is linked to the SLIDES.XLA file instead of SLIDE SHOW ADD-IN (the Macintosh version of SLIDES.XLA).
WORKAROUNDTo correct this problem, do the following to change the link from SLIDES.XLA to SLIDE SHOW ADD-IN:

To create a slide show from Microsoft Excel worksheets, charts, and other graphics, you can use this add-in with the slide show template document called SLIDES.XLT (Windows) or SLIDE SHOW (Macintosh).
