SYMPTOMS

In the "FILENAME field" Word Help topic, the "\p switch" instruction appears to use a forward slash (/) instead of a backslash (\) character.

CAUSE

Wherever the "\p" switch is formatted as italic, it looks like a forward slash instead of a backslash. This Word for Windows Help topic is correct, but it appears incorrect.

Note: Wherever the "\p" switch is not formatted as italic, it displays correctly.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Word listed above. This problem was corrected in Word version 7.0 for Windows 95.

RESOLUTION

Use the backslash (\) before the "p" switch.
