Vertical Gridlines Missing When Printing to HP DeskJet 550C

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, when you print your project in the Resource Graph view to an HP DeskJet 550C printer, the vertical gridlines on the project do not print.

Additionally, when you print your project in the Resource Usage view, some of the Minor Timescale gridlines do not print.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when your project is printing in the Landscape orientation, and the selected Print Mode option in the HP DeskJet 550C printer driver is Black And Color, and the selected Dithering option is Pattern.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, select a different Print Mode or Dithering option in the printer driver so that Black And Color (Print Mode) is not used with Pattern (Dithering). For example, you can use the Black And Color Print Mode option with the Standard Dithering option.

To change these settings in the HP DeskJet 550c printer driver, do the following:

  1. In Microsoft Project, choose Print from the File menu. Choose the Printer button. In the Print Setup dialog box, choose Setup.

  2. From the Print Mode option list, select the desired option.

  3. Choose the Options button. From the Dithering list, select the desired option. Choose OK.

  4. In the HP DeskJet 550C Printer Setup dialog box, choose OK. In the Print Setup dialog box, choose OK.

  5. In the Print dialog box, choose OK to print your project, or choose Cancel.

Note that by default, when you install the HP DeskJet 550C printer driver, the Print Mode setting is Black And Color, and the default Dithering option in the Options dialog box is Standard. This problem does not occur when you have these settings selected, and you also receive the fastest printing results using these settings.
