PRB: Reindex Produces Random Characters on Screen Output

SYMPTOMS

When a large table is reindexed in FoxPro for MS-DOS, unexpected characters will appear on the line that reports the results of the indexing.

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

When a large database file that has over 4.5 million records is reindexed, the output of the first tag to the screen will be fine; for example: 

   Reindexing Tag <Tag Name> of  file - <cdx path and filename>
However, all subsequent tags will produce the results similar to the following 

   Reindexing Tag <Tag Name> <XXX> of  file - <cdx path and filename>
where <XXX> is any three ASCII characters.

When a smaller database (for example, one containing 1.5 million records) is used, this behavior does not occur.
