SYMPTOMS
When you insert a Microsoft Project file as an object in another application, such as Microsoft Word for Windows, and the project file contains linked information, you receive the following message:
'FILENAME.MPP' contains linked information. Reestablish links?
The following message appears when you choose either Yes or No:
'Project in Untitled' contains linked information. Reestablish links?
When you insert a Microsoft Project file as an object in another application, and the project file contains a subproject, you receive the following message:
Update links to unopened subprojects of 'FILENAME.MPP'?
The following message appears when you choose either Yes or No:
Update links to unopened subprojects of 'Project in Untitled'?
The second message in each case contains 'Project in Untitled' even if the file in which you are inserting or editing the Microsoft Project object has been saved (is named).
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you use the Create From File tab in the
Options dialog box to insert a Microsoft Project project object in
another application, and the project contains a link or a subproject.
This behavior does not occur when you select the Link To File check
box on the Create From File tab of the Object dialog box. Also, when you insert a Microsoft Project file in another application, and the project does not contain a link or a subproject, you do not receive
any messages.
WORKAROUND
This behavior does not affect the information that is embedded in the
application. However, if you want to avoid receiving any messages asking if you want to update links, you can select the Link To File check box on the Create From File tab in the Options dialog box.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
