SUMMARY

The maximum number of characters that can be placed on a single line in a table cell is 255. This includes spaces and special characters such as tabs and carriage returns. Lines longer than 255 characters will be wrapped to the next line in the same cell, regardless if there is space left in the cell for more text.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Publisher 98 for Windows.
