• Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 5.0

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, when you paste an object to a worksheet in a workbook that has been password protected, you receive a general protection (GP) fault.

WORKAROUND

To avoid receiving a GP fault when you paste an object to a worksheet, do either of the following:

• Save the workbook without password protection, and then paste the object in the workbook. You can then save the workbook with a password again.

• Move the worksheet in the password protected workbook (make sure this workbook contains more than one worksheet) to a workbook that is not password protected. Paste the object to the worksheet in the new workbook, and then move the worksheet back to the workbook that is password protected.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel for Windows version 5.0c.
