PUB2: Speller Skips Misspelled Words Following Blank Lines
Q118805
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Publisher for Windows, versions 2.0, 2.0a
-------------------------------------------------------------------
SYMPTOMS
========
The Publisher spelling checker skips a misspelled word if there is a
blank line preceding it. If the word is selected, the spelling checker
recognizes it, but the first word of the following paragraph is
missed. Selecting the entire story does not solve the problem. Adding
a space before the word, however, forces the word to be recognized.
STATUS
======
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Publisher versions 2.0 and
2.0a. This problem was corrected in Publisher version 3.0 for Windows 95.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM
==============================
1. Create a text frame.
2. Type a misspelled word.
3. Press ENTER twice.
4. Perform steps 2 and 3 above three more times.
5. From the Tools menu, choose Check Spelling.
6. The spelling checker identifies the first misspelled word and skips,
unpredictably, subsequent misspelled words.
MORE INFORMATION
================
In a multiple paragraph document, the spelling checker acts unpredictably.
For example, if you have a document with four paragraphs and the first
word of each is misspelled, Publisher may identify the misspelled
word in the first and second paragraphs, but not the third or fourth
paragraphs, depending on the length of the paragraphs.
