Help Key on Keyboard Doesn't Run Macro Assigned to Help Button

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, when you run a custom dialog box that contains a button that is formatted as a help button, the macro assigned to the help button does not run when you press the Help or COMMAND+- keys.

CAUSE

When you format a button in a user-defined dialog box as a help button, and you assign a macro to this button, the macro is run when you choose the button in the dialog box. However, if you use the keys that run Microsoft Excel Help, Help and COMMAND+-, Microsoft Excel Help is run instead of the procedure assigned to the help button in the custom dialog box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
