BUG: dbinit() Will Cause GP Fault if thousand_sep Set to Null

SYMPTOMS

The dbinit() function in W3DBLIB will cause a general protection fault (GP fault) if the thousand_sep value in SQLCOMMN.LOC has been set to '' or has been left blank.


CAUSE

DB-Library incorrectly handles a '' or blank thousand separator.


WORKAROUND

Do not use a blank or '' thousand separator.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in DB-Library 4.20.50. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
