MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. In Program Manager, select the Microsoft Project icon, and choose Properties from the File menu in Program Manager. Change the working directory to a location on your local hard drive.

  2. Connect to a Novell NetWare Server (version 3.11-4.01).

  3. Start Microsoft Excel version 5.0.

  4. In cell A1 of a new worksheet, type Test.

  5. In Microsoft Excel, from the Microsoft Excel File menu, choose Save, and save the file to a drive on the network server as TEST.XLS.

  6. From the Microsoft Excel Edit menu, choose Copy.

  7. Start Microsoft Project.

  8. From the Microsoft Project Edit menu, choose Paste Special. Select the Paste-Link button and select the Microsoft Excel 5.0 Worksheet option. Choose OK.

  9. From the Edit menu, choose Links. Select the link to the Microsoft Excel object and choose the Change Source button.

When the dialog box appears, note that the drive is the drive where your working directory is located. However, the directory structure is the same as where the linked file is located. The document's drive has been mapped to the local hard drive.
