Article ID: 118933

APPLIES TO

- Microsoft Word 6.01 for Macintosh
This article was previously published under Q118933
SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Word, when you double-click a picture to edit it in the
Picture Editor, the picture's pattern is lost, reverting to a solid fill.
CAUSE
This problem may occur when you edit a picture created in a separate
program, using patterns that Picture Editor in Word does not support.
Word attempts to match the picture's pattern with its own internal listing
of supported patterns. If no match is found, the picture reverts to a solid
fill.
WORKAROUND
If your picture loses its pattern by editing it, click Undo Picture on the
Edit menu.
To make changes to the picture, copy and paste it into the originating
graphic program. When you have edited the graphic, copy and paste it
back into your Word document.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word versions 6.0 and 6.0.1
for the Macintosh. We are researching this problem and will post new
information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
