    • Microsoft Access version 2.0

    SYMPTOMS

Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.

When you use the Color Builder to select a color for an object, you can select a solid color or a dithered color. If you select a dithered color for the BackColor property of a form section, the background color of that form section may look different in Design view than it does in Form view.

Note that this behavior is not apparent with displays limited to 16 colors or less.

    CAUSE

This behavior occurs if you design a form with its grid lines turned on, and you select a dithered color for a section's background color.

    RESOLUTION

In order to see the same background color in the form's Design and Form views, make sure that Grid is not chosen on the View menu (that is, there should be no check mark next to the Grid command) in the form's Design view.

    STATUS

This behavior no longer occurs in Microsoft Access for Windows 95 version 7.0.

    MORE INFORMATION

    Steps to Reproduce Behavior

NOTE: Your monitor must be capable of displaying more than 16 colors in order for this behavior to be apparent.

    1. Create a new, blank form.
    2. Set the form's GridX and GridY properties to 1.
    3. Make sure that Grid is chosen on the View menu (there should be a check mark next to the Grid command).
    4. Set the detail section's BackColor property to 3070756. Note the section's background color.
    5. View the form in Form view. Note that the section's background color is different than in Design view.

If you view the form in Design view again and turn off the Grid command on the View menu, the section's background color changes to match its appearance in Form view.
