The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 4.0, 4.0a, 5.0, 5.0c
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, versions 4.0, 5.0, 5.0a
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows 95, versions 7.0, 7.0a

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, the border for your print titles may not be printed correctly when the following conditions are true:

  • The print titles are formatted with a double-underline border.

    -and-

  • The print titles are formatted with a pattern.

    -and-

  • The formatting occurs either in the last row of the print titles or directly before a page break.

When these conditions are true, you will receive the following results when you print your document or view it in print preview:

Microsoft Excel versions 5.0, 7.0

  • The first double-underline border is printed correctly, but the following pages appear as if they have only a single-underline border.

Microsoft Excel version 4.0
  • The double-underline is printed as a single underline on all pages.

WORKAROUND

To display the double-underline border in your print titles, include a blank row without a pattern directly below the border in the print title. For example if the print title is set to include rows one through three ($1:$3), insert a blank row as row four and change the print titles to rows one through four ($1:$4).
