Charts Linked to Multiple Names Not Copied Correctly

SYMPTOMS
In the versions of Microsoft Excel listed above, if the link from a chart
sheet to data on a worksheet goes through more than one layer of defined
names, the name in the chart series link formula is not copied correctly
when you copy the chart sheet: the new chart will contain an invalid link
to the original chart tab instead of a link to the workbook.
For example, if you create a defined name on a worksheet called "Name1,"
and you then create another defined name that refers to "Name1" and call it
"Name2," and you then create a chart sheet using "Name2" as the data range,
(you can do this by editing the Names and Values tab of a chart sheet),
when you make a copy of this chart sheet in the same book, the new chart
will appear to be correct, but the chart series information will be
incorrect.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in
Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows and Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition.
