Project: Mouse Doesn't Scroll in the Module Editor

SYMPTOMS

In the module editor, if you select a macro that is too large to fit on the screen, the selection process will stop when the mouse pointer reaches the border of the window. As long as the mouse pointer is outside the Microsoft Project application window, the window will not scroll and text will not continue to be selected.


WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use the keyboard to make a selection: press and hold down he SHIFT key and use the arrow keys on the keyboard to scroll and select the module data, or move your mouse while the pointer is outside the Microsoft application window.


MORE INFORMATION

In views other than the module view, if you select data and then drag the mouse pointer outside of the Microsoft Project application window, the scrolling and selection process continues (the screen can be scrolled up or down until the end of the data is reached, or until you release the mouse button).

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. From the Tools menu, choose Macros, select the CreatePivotTables macro, and choose Edit.


  2. From the beginning of the macro, hold down the left mouse button and drag down to select the macro data (when you select the data it will be highlighted).


  3. Drag the mouse to the bottom edge of the window.


When the mouse leaves the Module Editor editing space, scrolling and selection will halt, and will not resume until you move the mouse.
