SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Excel, when you apply one of the Accounting (versions 5.x and 7.0) or Finance (version 4.0) formats using the AutoFormat feature, the currency number format ($) is applied only to the first row and the Total row in the data range.
CAUSEThis behavior is by design in Microsoft Excel. There is no documentation that states that an Accounting or Financial format must have a currency format applied to all of the cells.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this behavior, you must apply the desired currency format to all of the cells that do not have this format applied by the AutoFormat feature. Note that when you apply one of the Accounting autoformats in Microsoft Excel version 5.x or 7.0, the following Accounting category format code is applied:
_($* #,##0.00_);_($* (#,##0.00);_($* "-"??_);_(@_)When you apply one of the Finance autoformats in Microsoft Excel version 4.0, the following Currency category format code is applied:
$#,##0.00_);[Red]($#,##0.00) REFERENCESFor more information about Applying An Autoformat To A Range, choose the Search button in Help and type:
autoformats, applyingIn Microsoft Excel 7.0, click Answer Wizard on the Help menu, click on the Index tab, and type in "AutoFormat".
