-
Microsoft Project for Windows, version 4.0
SUMMARY
The Workgroup Message Handler for Lotus cc:Mail or Microsoft Mail for
Windows NT is available from Microsoft Technical Support.
If you want to use cc:Mail or Mail for Windows NT to send, open, or
read messages in Microsoft Project, you need to install the Microsoft
Project version 4.0 Workgroup Message Handler. You must install the
Workgroup Message Handler regardless of whether you are a project
manager or a resource: project managers need it to open resource
responses in Microsoft Project, and resources need it to respond to
workgroup messages sent from Microsoft Project. If you are using cc:Mail,
after you install the message handler, follow the instructions in
this article to modify the way Microsoft Project is set up.
NOTE: The Workgroup Message Handler works only with cc:Mail or Mail
for Windows NT.

- From the File menu, choose Open.
- In the File Name box, type <drive>:\setup.mpp and press ENTER,
where <drive> is where you expanded Wp1060.exe.
- In the Enter E-mail Name dialog box that appears, type your E-mail
name, and then click OK.
NOTE: Step 4 ensures that the workgroup messaging will function correctly.
TIPS FOR USING WORKGROUP MESSAGE HANDLER AND CC:MAIL OR MAIL FOR WINDOWS NT
- Verify that the directory containing cc:Mail appears in the PATH
environment variable in your Autoexec.bat file, so that Microsoft
Project can find your mail system.
- If you are using the Windows NT Mail client and the Send and Add
Routing Slip commands on the File menu are unavailable (dimmed),
add the line MAPI=1 to the [Mail] section of your Win.ini file.
- If you share the computer on which you run cc:Mail with another
person who runs cc:Mail from a different account, be sure to close
the Open Mail Session program when you quit cc:Mail.
- This version of the Workgroup Message Handler will not work with
the 16-bit version of Microsoft Mail. If you want to use the
message handler included with Microsoft Project version 4.0, run
Wgsetup.exe from Setup Disk 1 of the Microsoft Project version 4.0
Setup disks.
- Microsoft Schedule+ workgroup features will not work with cc:Mail
or Mail for Windows NT.
- When you install the Workgroup Message Handler, the Setup program
changes the Standard menu and the Workgroup toolbar. The original
versions are saved as the Old Standard menu and the Old Workgroup
toolbar, respectively.
