SYMPTOM

While spell checking a project in Microsoft Project, you may receive a general protection (GP) fault in MSSPELL.DLL.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project for Windows 95, version 4.1.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Start a new project.

  2. In task 1, enter "intergration" (without the quotation marks) as the task name.

  3. From the Tools menu, choose Spelling.

You receive the following error message:
Microsoft Project caused a General Protection Fault in MSSPELL.DLL at 0002:7EC6.
Any misspelled word where the spelling checker tries to generate more than 12 suggestions causes the error to occur. Disabling the "Always Suggest," and "Suggest from User Dictionary" in the Spelling options, however, does not prevent the problem from occurring.
