FIX: Updated Viewer Compiler Fixes Fonts in Word 6.0 Titles

Q120250

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

Incorrect fonts are used in a compiled Viewer title authored with Microsoft Word version 6.0 for Windows.

CAUSE

Word version 6.0 for Windows has modified the way it saves font information when saving files in Rich Text Format (RTF). The Viewer compiler that shipped with the Microsoft Multimedia Viewer Publishing Toolkit version 2.0 does not process the new font information correctly. The compiler has been updated to handle the new font information, and is available as self- extracting file from the Microsoft Software Library (MSL).

RESOLUTION

To ensure that the correct fonts are used in Viewer titles authored with Microsoft Word for Windows version 6.0, compile the Viewer title with WMVC.EXE -- an updated version of the Viewer compiler.
