PRB: In-Place Editing of Word 6.0 Picture Object Not Activated

    Article ID: Q120346
    Creation Date: 08-SEP-1994
    Revision Date: 19-SEP-1996

The information in this article applies to:

    • Microsoft Access version 2.0
    • Microsoft Word for Windows versions 6.0, 6.0a

    SYMPTOMS

Advanced: Requires expert coding, interoperability, and multiuser skills.

When you create a bound or unbound object frame with a Microsoft Word version 6.0 for Windows Picture object, in-place editing is not activated as it is for Microsoft Excel version 5.0 objects. Instead, Word creates and uses a new window.

    CAUSE

This behavior is caused by the way Microsoft Word 6.0 for Windows handles in-place editing of Picture objects.

    STATUS

This behavior no longer occurs in Microsoft Access for Windows 95 version 7.0, using Microsoft Word for Windows version 7.0.

    MORE INFORMATION

    Steps to Reproduce Behavior

    1. Start Microsoft Access and open any database.
    2. Create a blank, new form.
    3. Add an unbound object frame to the form. In the Object Type box, select Microsoft Word 6.0 Picture, and then choose OK.
    4. Set the object frame's Enabled property to Yes.
    5. View the form in Form view.
    6. Double-click the embedded object. Note that in-place editing of the object is not activated, but rather that Word starts in a window of its own.
