SYMPTOMS

Your project is recalculated when you enter a value in the Percent Complete box for an unstarted task, even though you set the calculation option to Manual.

When a percent complete is applied to a task, the task's Start date is copied and placed into the Actual Start date. If a schedule recalculation is not performed, the task's start date may be incorrect which would also cause the task's Actual Start date to be incorrect. Therefore, a recalculation is performed when a percent complete is applied to a previously unstarted task so that the Actual Start date will be correct.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

1. From the Tools menu, choose Options, and then select the Calculation tab.



2. In the Calculation box, select the Manual option button, then choose OK.



3. Enter three tasks in the project, and link two of them in a finish- to-start relationship. Note that the start and finish dates for the linked tasks do not change.



4. Select the task that is not linked, and then choose Task Information from the Insert menu.



5. Select the General tab, and enter a value (for example, 50%) in the Percent Complete box, and then choose OK. Note that the start and finish dates for the linked tasks are recalculated.
