SYMPTOMS

When you save a Microsoft Project 4.0 file in MPX 3.0 format, the rollup field is not included.

WORKAROUND

To successfully transfer the rollup field from Microsoft Project version 4.0 to a Microsoft Project version 3.0 MPX file, the column of information must be saved in a temporary location that will be saved when the MPX 3.0 file is created.

To save the rollup field in 3.0 MPX format, do the following:

1. Modify a table to include the rollup field and one of the following fields: Flag1-Flag10, or Text1-Text10. Try and make the fields adjacent in the table.



2. Click the column heading of the rollup column.



3. From the Edit menu, choose Copy.



4. Click the column heading of the FlagX or TextX column that you added.



5. From the Edit menu, choose Paste.



6. Modify the Export table in the project you are saving to include the FlagX or TextX column that now contains the rollup information.



7. Save the file in MPX 3.0 format.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
