Special Effects Sounds Don't Play with PC Speaker Driver

SYMPTOMS

The special effects found in the Microsoft Home and Microsoft Standard Mouse editions with Microsoft IntelliPoint software version 1.0 include .WAV files that may not always play with the PC Speaker driver.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Home and Standard with IntelliPoint software version 1.00. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

The PC Speaker driver may continue to correctly play all other .WAV files throughout the system. It is also possible that the .WAV files included with the IntelliPoint software previously played correctly with special effects.
