The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you use the Help key (F1) to access context-sensitive help for the following inserted fields, the Office Assistant displays a prompt or general field help (or the Word Help Contents screen is displayed in Word 6.x and 7.x) instead of the context help screen:
PRIVATE RD (6.x only) TA (6.x only) TC (6.x only) XE WORKAROUNDSTo access Help for all fields, including those on the above list, use one of the following methods. Method 1: On the Insert menu, click Fields, select the field in the Field Names list, and press F1.Method 2: Use the Field Types Reference in Help. To locate the reference, double-click the Help button on the Standard toolbar, and then
type "fields, type of" (without the quotation marks). Go to Field
Types and Switches, and click Field Types.
Method 3: In Word for the Macintosh, you can access context-sensitive help
by using the HELP key on the extended ADB Keyboard or by using
COMMAND+? on the standard Apple Macintosh ADB keyboard.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Word listed above. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
