Start and End Symbols Change to Solid When Editing Gantt Bar |
Q120897
The information in this article applies to:
-
Microsoft Project for Windows, version 4.0
-
Microsoft Project for the Macintosh, version 4.0
SYMPTOMS
When you format a Gantt bar that has framed or dashed start and end
symbols, and you then select the Text tab in the Format Bar dialog box, the start and end symbols are changed to a solid type.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
MORE INFORMATION
Steps to Reproduce Behavior
- Enter a task.
- From the Format menu, choose Bar.
- Modify the task bar to have framed diamond start and end
shapes.
- Select the Text tab. Put the Finish field on the right
text line and choose OK.
- Double-click the Gantt bar in the Timescale and change
the right text to Resource and choose OK.
NOTE: The end shapes have become solid.
- Double click on the bar again and change to end shapes back to
framed.
NOTE: The end shapes are again framed.
- Double-click the bar and select the Text tab (but don't select
anything on the tab), and choose OK.
NOTE: that the end shapes are changed to solid.
Although you would expect the end shapes to retain their framed characteristic when attached text is changed or text tab selected, the end
shapes always change back to solid when the Text tab is selected.
This behavior is similar to rollups on Summary bars.
