Problems Printing Rotated Text from PowerPoint or PageMaker

Last reviewed: September 16, 1996
Article ID: Q120938
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows Printing System version 1.0

SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft Windows Printing System (WPS) version 1.0 does not correctly print text that has been modified by the Rotated Text option (available in both Microsoft PowerPoint version 4.0 and Aldus PageMaker). All rotated text prints off-center (several pixels to the top and right of the original placement of the text).

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, select a printer driver other than the Windows Printing System, or use the options found with the Microsoft WordArt 2.0 version to simulate rotated text.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows Printing System version 1.00. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

This behavior is specific to Microsoft PowerPoint 4.0 and Aldus PageMaker rotated text. If text is placed at the same angle, using the same font, and the same document with WordArt 2.0, the text prints correctly with the Windows Printing System. The type or size of font has no effect upon the output.
