SYMPTOMS

Your system stops responding (hangs) or you receive the following error when loading an audio video interleave (.AVI) file created with CorelMOVE version 4.0 into the Video for Windows VidEdit program:

   MMTASK caused a General Protection Fault in module MSVIDEO.DLL at
   0008:07AA

CAUSE

In version 1.1 of Video for Windows, VidEdit is not compatible with .AVI files created with CorelMOVE 4.0, which is included in CorelDRAW 4.0.

NOTE: These .AVI files ARE compatible with version 1.0 of Video for Windows.

RESOLUTION

Corel Corporation has confirmed this to be a problem with the RLE compression in CorelMOVE version 4.0. To correct the problem, obtain the patch CMVFIX.EXE from the Corel bulletin board service (BBS), CompuServe forum, or technical support.
