XL: XLM Functions Ending in "?" Not in Function Wizard

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 5.0, 5.0c
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows 95, version 7.0
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 5.0

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, custom functions on MS Excel 4 macro sheets will not be displayed in the Function Wizard if the name of the macro ends in a question mark ("?").

For example, if you have a function macro called MYFUNCTION?, it will not be listed in the Function Wizard.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel versions 5.x and 7.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
