WD: MsgBox and MsgBox() Uses Different Symbol in MacWord

SUMMARY

There is a documentation error on page 599 of "Microsoft Word Developer's Kit" (WDK, part number WB51159-1093). The following information, located in the table that lists the values for the Type argument, is true for Word for Windows, but it is not true for Word for the Macintosh: 


   Symbol       32        Question symbol
In Word for the Macintosh, when you use 32 as the value of the Type argument for the WordBasic MsgBox statement or MsgBox() function, the message box contains an Attention symbol, not a Question symbol.

NOTE: In Word for the Macintosh, when you use 48 as the value of the Type argument, the message box also contains an Attention symbol, as documented. In other words, Type 32 and 48 both produce an Attention symbol in Word for the Macintosh.


MORE INFORMATION

The "MsgBox, MsgBox()" online Help topic in Word for the Macintosh correctly states that Type value 32 produces a Question symbol in the Windows environment and an Attention symbol in the Macintosh environment.

The first edition (part number WB51159-1093) of "Microsoft Word Developer's Kit" (WDK) was published prior to the release of Word for the Macintosh, so it may contain incomplete information about the Macintosh operating environment.
