SYMPTOMS
========
When you import text into Publisher, the imported text, which may be
formatted as a TrueType font other than Times New Roman, is forced to
convert to Times New Roman.
STATUS
======
This problem was corrected in Publisher version 3.0 for Windows 95.
RESOLUTION
==========
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
1. Open the WIN.INI file in a text editor such as Notepad.
2. Locate the [MS Text Converters] section.
3. In this section, locate the line that resembles
MSWordWin2=Word for Windows
2.0,C:\WINDOWS\MSAPPS\TEXTCONV\wordwin2.cnv,doc
if Word 2.0x for Windows version is or was installed, and
MSWord6=Word for Windows/Macintosh
6.0,C:\WINDOWS\MSAPPS\TEXTCONV\msword6.cnv,doc
if Word version 6.0 or 6.0a for Windows is or was installed.
4. Move the line(s) to the top of the [MS Text Converters] section.
5. Locate the [MSWord Text Converters] section.
6. In this section, locate the line that resembles
MSWordWin2=Word for Windows 2.0,
C:\WINDOWS\MSAPPS\TEXTCONV\WORDWIN2.CNV, doc
if Word for Windows version 2.0x is or was installed, and
MSWord6=Word for Windows 6.0,
C:\WINDOWS\MSAPPS\TEXTCONV\MSWORD6.CNV, doc
if Word version 6.0 or 6.0a for Windows is or was installed.
7. Move the line(s) to the top of the [MS Text Converters] section.
8. Exit Notepad and save the changes you have made to the WIN.INI
file.
STEPS T0 REPRODUCE PROBLEM
==========================
1. Run Word for Windows version 2.0x and type some Arial, 16 point text.
2. Format some of the text as bold, some as italic, and some as
underlined.
3. Select all of the text in the document.
4. From the Edit menu, choose Copy, then quit Word for Windows.
5. From the Accessories group in Program Manager, run Clipbook Viewer.
6. From the File menu, choose Save As.
7. From the Save File As option, give the file a unique name and save.
8. Run Publisher and open your .CLP file using the RTF converter.
EXPECTED RESULTS: Arial, 16-point formatted text
ACTUAL RESULTS: Times New Roman, 16-point formatted text
If the most-often-referenced *.DOC converter is placed at the top of
the two above referenced sections in the WIN.INI file, the conversion
should work properly.
